Code not running
I am having my students run their codes but for some reason after hitting the play button it turns red and the code does not run. (We are on the latest update. I have tried using a student account at home with my laptop and it works perfectly fine but it does not work with the chromebooks at school)

That is a known issue, thanks for reporting it.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Increased computer specs would likely fix the issue.
Perhaps turning down render distance and fancy graphics as well.
Also making the screen smaller (however that could be difficult to code with)

Danny - sorry, just to clarify, is the known issue that code builder doesn't work on Chromebooks? Is it only on student accounts? I'm not tracking with that parameters of the problem. Please and thanks.

Hey there Ivan!
Good question. The team is actively working towards a fix. A lot of the symptoms surrounding this issue are due to hosts and joinees not all being on the same version, so if there were an older version rollback, that would perpetuate the issue.
We totally understand the desire to keep playing the game on a version that felt more stable, but unfortunately at this time we do not have the option for rollbacks.

If hitting the play button and it goes red but the code doesn't run, from experience it seems to be a device spec issue.
A user can try to turn down fancy graphics and other similar settings, or make the window smaller, but in general, higher processing power is needed.

any solutions yet? we are a new school and recently purchase 25 chromebooks, we had minecraft education on old computer and works well but in the new chormebooks we can't run code.

We found that users must have their Chromebooks on OS version 113.0.5672.134. Proxies on Chromebooks might also cause this since we have limited support for proxies on Chromebooks.

It seems to be a software problem. I have been able to check on two computers with the same hardware (processor and ram) but different OS (chromebook vs windows) and it only fails on the chromebook.

We are having this problem only on certain models of chromebooks (HP Chromebook 11a G8) Other HP Chromebook G8 models are not having the problem. Do you have any suggestions on a fix or a work around?

Hi, Joell Wilkins - I am not an expert voice on this, but in the comment from Danny above, the processing speed of the chromebook is going to be an issue. Your HP has a AMD A4-9120C APU with Radeon R4 Graphic. As a point of comparison, a low level chromebook processor on sale right now might have an Intel Celeron N400, which is twice as fast as that. If speed is the issue, then that may explain it. But as I said, I'm not the expert on it.
If I were tracking it, I'd stick a piece of blue tape of the troublesome models, or scan their serial numbers, or write down their device numbers (however your school can manage those things.) Be sure student on those device do what they can to make things easy on themselves by reducing chunks and working in flat worlds for simple coding. You can also remove extra profiles off of those devices. Cluttered chromebooks get bogged down in data pretty fast! (remember that it deletes local data. local data = saved Minecraft worlds on the Chromebook. That stuff takes up **room**)

Hello, I know this is an older thread, but I didn't find anything more recent. Is there a solution to this problem? In my class, I have to switch all pupils to "op", else they can't execute their code. This is not normal behaviour, or is it?

This still is a challenge and it seems the best solution is to simply upgrade our chromebooks! Perhaps we could be given a button to click enable the code to run on slightly older models.
