Camera Item no longer usable in commands

The camera is no longer an item that Minecraft recognises within commands. So you can no longer /give or /replaceitem with a camera. This is a problem as it prevents 'automation' of giving students one of the main items we use to gather students assessment data.

  This issue has been resolved by the latest v1.19.53 hotfix!

  Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are investigating this now and found other commands that are not working as well. There is a bug report and is being addressed at this time.

  Our Camera tutorial in Learn to play does not appear in the inventory after activity 1 >

  We start the lesson and then after we take the first photo, we can move to the courtyard, but the camera does not appear in the inventory.

  Hey there, this is connected to the camera not able to be given from commands. We're currently working to resolve this but do not have an ETA at this time. If you're able to go into creative mode you can search for camera and grab one from there, then revert to your previous mode.

  Justin I assume this is why the execute code command isn't working in chat, as well?

  Debbie Alexander I think this may be a different cause. The execute command syntax changed drastically with the 1.19 version. It is now more similar to the Java syntax. It is going to take some getting used to, but check out https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Commands/execute for some pointers to get you started.

  How is the camera item still broken two months later? Has anyone found a workaround for this issue yet? Do we need to switch everyone to creative mode at the start of our survival mode worlds, watch all the students to make sure they don't grab other items, have them get a camera, and then switch everyone back to survival mode? Has there been any progress on this issue Justin? Any chance it will be fixed this week?

  We would appreciate the fixed camera too! I am in Foundation Phase, so we have stopped using Minecraft Education due to this camera problem. We are now just using Scratch Jr and Kodable.
