We are actively investigating the issues with iPads at NYC. We'll update this thread when we know more.
Update 6/20 We released the hotfix for iOS today which resolves the native client error for NYCDOE users. If you encounter the issue after updating to the latest version, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Update 6/19: We're releasing a hotfix for this issue later this week which resolve the native client issue on iOS. Thank you for your patience while we've worked with the NYC DOE IT team to investigate this.
Update 5/17: We're continuing to work with the NYC DOE IT Admins, however the fix appears like it will take some time. We do not have an ETA but this is a priority for our team. It appears to be an issue between the school's federation & identity system for iOS and Microsoft's latest authentication. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
As a reminder, this issue is on iOS only for NYC DOE. NYC DOE accounts will work normally on other OS's. -
I am sorry to hear about your issue. Can you let me know the @domain (only) of the account you are trying to login with and the OS version of your iPad?

Same thing! I have restarted and shut down but nothing fixes it. Currently I am using @nycstudents.net and the OS version is 16.3.1

Currently there is an update available but I can’t get it and I think that is the problem.

Is there a solution to this issue as of yet?

Hi, nicole beldner; I have a support case open with Minecraft Diamond Support; they are investigating the issue.

I also have an issue with signing in on Ipad. A file called native client just pops up.

Hello! I think I know the issue with “Native Client”. The issue is that Native Client is meant for Chromebooks because I searched it up on Google. It takes me to a page that looks like chromebooks are the only ones who are temporarily using Minecraft: Education. I hope this helps.https://developer.chrome.com/docs/native-client/

Thank you for writing in. At this time, iOS devices are experiencing the native client error message. The team is still investigating at this time, please bear with us.

When will we might be able to use Minecraft: Education again without the “Native Client” showing up? I got it when I had the 1.19.52 update on my iPad.

Hopefully soon but we are working with the affected tenants to isolate the problem. There is no ETA at this time from the Devs that we have.

Whenever I try to sign in it keeps showing me a file with zero kb so it is empty and it doesn’t allow me to sign in because of that
Please Advise
Thank You

I hope this issue gets fixed in the next version of 1.19

I'm also having this same issue as well with the Minecraft: Education “Native Client” showing up. It started when I had the 1.19.52 update on my iPad as well.

I have the same issue please fix this a fast as possible, I know that you are working hard but still.

It happens to me too on nycstudents.net a file with 0 KB titled native.client. I have the newest iOS and Minecraft Education is on version 1.19.52

There is a potential solution for the iPad issue. You will need permissions in order to adjust these settings. The iPad may have Content and Privacy Restrictions turned on, within settings. Once these were turned off, the error cleared. If you are able to toggle this off as a test let us know if this helps.

I have a question, where is it in settings?

I logged into my child's NYCDOE iPad and checked the settings. The Content and Privacy Restrictions were not on (they weren't set up). I restarted the iPad, toggled it on and off, but no luck. Still getting the nativeclient notification 😔

We are not allowed to so I will probably test on my personal iPad.

Yeidy Levels For NYCDOE iPads, this is a separate issue that we are currently working alongside the NYCDOE IT Admin to resolve this. It only affects NYCDOE users on iPads, so if you have another device type, that'll work.

I dont think its just for NYCDOE ipads specifically, I tried logging in with my nycstudents acount on my personal ipad and it still didn’t work. So i think its a problem with nycstudents acounts.

I agree with Isabella's post above. When I reported what I did, I was using my child's DOE-issued iPad. Unfortunately, I am not able to log into my personal iPad using my @schools.nyc.gov account either. I get the nativeclient message every time. It seems to be an issue with the 1.19.52 version. My students who did not update and still have the 1.18.42 version can log into their iPads using their @nycstudents.net accounts.

Will I be able to sign in with my DOE student account on my iPhone now?
0 -
Possible solution is to log in with personal acc on the nycdoe iPad
4 -
Yea thats what I’m saying, so I think they should investigate based on the nycstudents accounts instead of just the NYCDOE ipads only.

However, you can’t log on with your personal email either…
