Problems with hosting and inventory
I am having the same problem with a number of different students. The student hosting is unable to open Minecraft or others are unable to connect. The hosting computer is restarted and Minecraft will now start but the user is unable to open inventory and others are still unable to join. This just started yesterday and each period it is happening to more and more students. I had a group reinstall it and they were able to join. But now ALL of them cant open their inventory. We are using mostly HP Z420 computers with Windows 10.

Having the same problem. Yesterday I had students who could not join the world and when they did they could not open their inventory. Closing the app and trying again solved the problem. Students are playing on iPads with IOS 16. I'm hosting from a PC. Today - it's worse. No one can join at all. Restarted all devices and restarted apps - no effect today. No one can join my teacher hosted world. All of them can join each other's worlds iPad to iPad, but no one can join mine. If I host the same world from my iPad, they can join.

I posted the same issue a few days ago - https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/14780895228948-Multiplayer-Student-characters-Frozen-after-joining
This is not my computer, or district, or internet. I have used Minecraft EE for months without issue. It JUST started happening. Hoping that the tech support can look into this - it's not an isolated issue. Telling us to look at socket connections or filter blocks is not the solution
Issues:
Inventory doesn't work.
Many players can't connect.
Student characters are frozen in the game world.
Full restarts do not fix the issue.

I am having the exact same issues. They began around the same time mentioned, above. Therefore, my Minecraft projects are on hold. I hope there is a fix soon.

Hey there,
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues.
I will make a ticket for us, and if you can send a video reproduction there of the inventory issue that would be great.
See you in the ticket!

Thank you for reporting these issues. We're very interested to see if we can learn more, so I'm creating tickets for both of you so we can get more info. In your ticket, please post the device info and a video repro if possible. Thank you!

Hey Sean!
One of the fixes for this is to make sure everyone is on the latest version of Minecraft Education that is joining one another. If even one is not, there may cause some unexpected results.
What device make/model/OS version are your host/joinees?

How do you force getting PCs onto the latest version of Minecraft Education. I have sat on update screen and MS Store and there doesn't seem to be an Update Button to force an update. Either way. Usually when I have had a mismatch of version the client cannot join the host PC. But I have such unreliable experiences for the past 2 weeks that I have had to just abandon doing any hosting and instead just instruct students to create their own worlds. This is sad, because collaborative creation is what Minecraft should be all about. Until this is reliable again I have to put those experiences on hold. I'm hosting on a Surface Pro 7 and students are connecting from Lenovo PCs. We are all running v1.19.52

You can manually update the client version by downloading the installer from our main website here: Download | Minecraft Education. Make sure to save any worlds you want to keep and remove the older version. If one PC this can cause two copies to be installed and will cause issues.

I saw the same issue with connectivity and inventory and chat -- nothing worked! Then I restarted everrrrrrrrrything a bunch of time, and things worked. Here's hoping I don't have to do that again tomorrow!
