Multiplayer - Student characters "Frozen" after joining
Hi, I have been using Minecraft EE for several years, and in the last month I've experienced an issue that I've never encountered before.
I have all students connecting to my world and we are building a city together. I've done this project many times.
In the last 2-3 weeks, tons of students are able to join the world - but upon joining, their character appears "frozen" in the world from my view. They see their character moving, they see the shared world...but they are not actually building in it. They cannot see their classmates characters or me as the teacher. If they save/exit/restart...it "sometimes" fixes the issue, but often will just freeze up their character again.
Another common issue that I see when this occurs is that their "inventory" cannot be opened. They simply cannot add/change blocks from the inventory as it does not work. If I kick them, again, it "sometimes" fixes the issue, but often will just freeze them up when they try and rejoin.
A final issue I see when this occurs, is that my "join code" is automatically changing every 2 minutes without me doing anything. I've never seen this happen before. And we were able to build without issue for several weeks. This has only started in the past 3 weeks.
Please advise. This happens in multiple locations (I teach in several schools) and with different worlds (it's not the same .mcworld file).
Students are on Chromebooks - but again, we were able to build without issue up until about 3 weeks ago.
Please let me know if you need anymore information. This is currently a major issue where I cannot continue our building project as the amount of "frozen" student characters is causing too many tech issues.
Thank you.

Thank you for providing those in-depth details. From what you describe there is a small communication interruption occurring while playing. The lag indicates to me that a scan is occurring on the backend where a filter or antivirus program is scanning Minecraft Education for viruses while you play. Also, since this is on Chromebooks, make sure SSL is completed and that any proxies that are in place are not interfering with the communication. Google requires end point certification when using SSL decryption. You can find out more about this at this link: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6334001?hl=en&ref_topic=3504941#zippy=%2Chostname-allowlist-for-chrome-devices-using-chrome-extensions-and-apps-chrome-web-store%2Chostname-allowlist-for-chrome-devices-using-android-apps-google-play-store
You will also need to make sure that you have the URLs on the following link allow listed by your network:

We are experiencing right now the same exact problem, with PCs, many and different ones, not Chromebooks...

When we host with more than 10 students, we experience the same situation. If we are less, then it seems to work, but not very stable. We are testing, I will update soon.

Sounds good. Saw you mentioned Chromebooks for students so wanted to provide all information I could with ideas. Please disregard that aspect.

Yes, I am experiencing this too. We are using windows laptops (not chrome). Is too has only started recently, and it is making classwide activities very difficult. If I refresh the join code, the students still appear in the world frozen. I then have to stop hosting, and when I click save and exit, Minecraft feeezes and doesn’t go back to main menu. I then close Minecraft, then it will not reopen unless I reset the computer. After the reset, Minecraft opens, the world opens, I can host, but then it freezes again. Very frustrating. Any ideas what could help?

Good to see mulitiplayer has been updated with 1.20 update. I look forward to seeing if this improves once school begins again.
